Әлеге галактика 1826 ЕЛда Шотландия астрономы James Dunlop тарафыннан, яктылык җыючы элемент буларак көзге кулланучы, 22.86 см (9 дюйм) зурлыктагы оптик телескоп ярдәмендә ачылган.[9]
